The Significance of antineuronal antibodies in acute psychiatry

The purpose of this study is to investigate the presence of antibodies associated with psychiatric and neurological symptoms among patients staying at psychiatric emergency departments and whether the presence of such antibodies leads to psychiatric illness. There is evidence that some mental illnesses are related to immune processes in the brain and body in general. These patients have minimal effect of for example traditional antipsychotic therapy.
